DAY 1 Sunday 8 September, 2024
Lisbon, Portugal
Workshop members will be welcomed at our hotel
in Lisbon at 6.00pm by your Tour Manager when we
gather for welcome drinks, followed by a delicious
included dinner. This will be a great opportunity to
get to know your fellow artists.
DAY 2 Monday 9 September, 2024
Lisbon
Get ready for an exciting day of exploration and
creativity in Lisbon. We will start our morning with a
guided tour of the city’s oldest and most charming
district, Alfama, led by a knowledgeable local
guide. Along the way, we will see iconic landmarks
such as the Belém Tower and the Monument to
the Discoveries, and learn fascinating facts about
Lisbon’s rich history, culture, and architecture.
In the afternoon, we will have our first painting
session in Alfama with the guidance of John, our
expert artist. The narrow cobbled streets and
traditional houses of Alfama will offer plenty
of inspiration for you to capture the unique
atmosphere of this charming neighbourhood.
Whether you are a seasoned artist or a beginner,
John will be there to provide helpful tips and advice
to help you create your masterpiece.
DAY 3 Tuesday 10 September, 2024
Lisbon
We are excited to take you on a day trip to the
picturesque town of Sintra, just 28km from Lisbon.
This enchanting town is home to a magnificent
Royal Palace, which we will visit with the help of a
local guide. The palace was used by generations
of Portuguese royalty prior to the 1910 revolution
and is a fascinating glimpse into the country’s
rich history. The surrounding hills of Sintra are
equally impressive, featuring the remains of the
Moorish Castle and the nineteenth-century Pena
Palace. The town is also known for its stunning
gardens and parks, providing plenty of inspiration
for our afternoon painting session. Under the
guidance of John, you will have the chance to
capture the breathtaking scenery of Sintra with
your paintbrushes. John will be on hand to provide guidance and encouragement. This evening there
will be an included dinner where we can share our
experiences and celebrate the day’s successes.
DAY 4 Wednesday 11 September, 2024
Lisbon
Under the guidance of John, we will head to a
fantastic painting location in Lisbon. John will lead
the workshop group to a spot that offers great
views and plenty of inspiration for our painting
session. After selecting the perfect spot, John will
carry out a demonstration to show you how to get
started on your own painting. He will provide tips
on techniques, colour mixing, and composition
to help you achieve the best possible result.
Throughout the session, John will be on hand to
help individual workshop members with their work.
He will offer guidance on any challenges you might
be facing and provide valuable feedback to help
you improve your skills.
DAY 5 Thursday 12 September, 2024
Lisbon
Today, we will take a trip to the beautiful
coastal town of Azenhas do Mar. With its
stunning location on top of a cliff by the sea
and charming white houses, the town exudes
a Greek feel and is a favourite spot for artists
and photographers. Under the guidance of
John Lovett, we’ll head to a fantastic painting
location in Azenhas do Mar that offers great
views of the town and the sea, providing plenty
of inspiration for our painting session. This
evening there will be an included dinner.
DAY 6 Friday 13 September, 2024
Porto, Portugal
Today, we will head north to the charming town
of Obidos, a must-see destination for anyone
visiting Portugal. With its classic crenellated wall
and beautiful historic centre, the town is a labyrinth
of cobblestoned streets and flower-bedecked,
whitewashed houses, each one adorned with
dashes of vivid yellow and blue paint.
After exploring Obidos, we will continue our
journey to Nazare, a picturesque fishing village
that is one of Portugal’s most famous beach
destinations. Legend has it that the village was
named after a statue of the Virgin Mary brought
to town from Nazareth by a monk in the 4th
century. Today, Nazare is known for its stunning
beaches and vibrant cultural scene. From Nazare,
we will continue on to Porto, a city located along
the Douro river estuary in northern Portugal. In
1996, Porto was registered as a Unesco World
Heritage Site, and it is not hard to see why. With its
picturesque streets, stunning architecture, and rich
cultural heritage, the city is a true gem of Portugal.
This evening there will be an included dinner,
giving you the opportunity to sample the delicious
local cuisine.
DAY 7 Saturday 14 September, 2024
Porto
This morning we will embark on a guided
sightseeing tour of Porto with a knowledgeable
local guide. Our tour will take us through the
city’s remarkable bridges over the Douro River,
the Baroque Church of St Francis, and the
stunning architecture that reflects Romanesque,
Neoclassical, and Gothic styles. In the afternoon, we
will have a painting session where you can put your
creativity to work and capture the beauty of Porto
in your painting.
DAY 8 Sunday 15 September, 2024
Porto
A full day of painting in Porto. John will take
the group to a picturesque location, providing
a perfect setting for a painting demonstration.
After the demonstration, John will provide individual attention to each workshop member,
helping you to develop your painting techniques
and create a masterpiece of your own. We believe
that painting is the perfect way to capture the
beauty of Porto and the surrounding landscape.
It allows you to connect with your surroundings
on a deeper level, and to create a lasting memory
of your experience in Portugal. This evening there
will be an included dinner.
DAY 9 Monday 16 September, 2024
Porto
This morning we will enjoy a relaxing cruise down
the Douro River, taking in breathtaking views of
Porto and Gaia with their distinctive bridges that
offer unique photo opportunities. Each bridge
has its own character and design, adding to the
charm of this picturesque city. Porto is a city with
a rich and fascinating history, dating back many
centuries. Its old centre is a maze of narrow, World
Heritage-listed lanes that wind steeply down to the
medieval waterfront. As you explore the city, you
will be enchanted by the atmospheric riverside,
with its old port-wine boats, narrow streets, and
shadowy archways. The city is home to a diverse
range of historical monuments, including the
Romanesque choir of the cathedral, the neoclassical
Stock Exchange, and the typical Portuguese Manueline-style Church of Santa Clara, all of which
showcase the region’s rich cultural heritage. This
afternoon John will lead the group to some great
painting locations in Porto, where you will have the
opportunity to capture the beauty and character of
this historic city.
DAY 10 Tuesday 17 September, 2024
Porto
Today we will embark on a picturesque journey by
private coach to the charming port town of Viana
do Castelo, where we will spend the day immersed
in painting. The town boasts a beautifully preserved
historic old town that provides the perfect subject
for your artwork. At the heart of Viana do Castelo
lies Praca de Republica, adorned with a delicate
fountain and surrounded by elegant buildings that
will transport you back in time. John will be on
hand to offer guidance and tips throughout the day,
helping you to bring your artistic vision to life. This
evening there will be an included dinner.
DAY 11 Wednesday 18 September, 2024
Porto
Today we travel on an enchanting journey to
the countryside. John will guide you through an
awe-inspiring demonstration, where John shares
his invaluable techniques, igniting your creativity and expanding your artistic horizons. After an
invigorating morning of painting, we will gather
for a delicious included lunch this delightful meal
will provide the perfect opportunity to unwind,
connect, and relish in the pleasures of both art
and gastronomy.
DAY 12 Thursday 19 September, 2024
Porto
On our final morning in Porto, we will gather for a
memorable painting session in a charming location
that captures the essence of this historic city.
Following the session, you will have the afternoon
to put the finishing touches on your work before
our final critique session. In the evening, we will
come together for farewell drinks and dinner, where
we can reminisce about the many highlights of our
time together in Portugal.

1. Payment Conditions:
A reservation deposit of $500 per person is required at the
time of booking. Final payment is due 60 days prior to the
date of departure. A 1.5% administration charge will be
added to payments by Visa, Mastercard and Amex.
2. Alteration to Workshop Vacation Price:
The Painting Workshop Vacation price is subject to
change in the event of unforeseen circumstances and
changes in the cost of travel and accommodation services.
Should any increase in the Workshop Vacation price be
unacceptable to the registered member, a full refund of
monies paid will be made.
3. Cancellation and Amendments:
* Cancellation conditions don’t apply for clients with future cruise/tour credits. Cruise/tour credits are non-refundable.
Cancellations received in writing 60 or more days from the
date of departure will result in a cancellation fee of $500
per person. Cancellations received 60 or fewer days before
departure will result in a loss of all monies paid. There are
no refunds for services not utilized while on a Workshop
Vacation. Travel insurance is highly recommended to cover
Workshop members for the consequences of unforeseen
events during the Workshop Vacation and for cancellation
fees that could result from illness, accident, death or other
contingencies. Once a booking has been confirmed, one
amendment to travel arrangements will be made free-of
charge. Subsequent changes to travel arrangements will
incur an amendment fee of $25 per change in addition to
supplier charges.
4. Minimum Workshop Vacation Numbers:
Each Painting Workshop Vacation has been priced on the
basis of a minimum number of members travelling. In the event that fewer than the minimum number of members
have confirmed their booking 60 days from the date of
commencement, Travelrite International reserves the right
to cancel the Workshop Vacation, giving a full refund of
monies paid, or to offer arrangements to proceed with the
Workshop Vacation at a modified price.
5. General:
In the unlikely event that the Workshop tutor is unable to
perform his or her duties due to unforeseen contingencies,
Travelrite International reserves the right to substitute
another artist as tutor or to continue with the Workshop
Vacation as planned or to provide a cash refund to
Workshop members equivalent to the value of the
Workshop leadership. Painting Workshops can involve a
considerable amount of walking and stair-climbing in the
regions visited and it is important that all members have
a level of physical fitness that allows them to take part in
these activities without the need of assistance from others.
6. Tax Considerations:
If you regularly sell your own paintings, you may fall into
the semi-professional or professional category for taxation
purposes and the tour cost may be tax-deductible. We
recommend that you seek the advice of a qualified tax
adviser.
7. Responsibilities:
Travelrite International Pty Ltd., their agents, officers,
affiliates, and/or suppliers of services pursuant to or
in connection with these Workshop Vacations shall
act only as agents in making arrangements for hotels,
transportation, restaurants, or any other service and do
not assume any liability whatsoever for any injury, damage,
death, loss, accident or delay to person or property due
to an act of negligence or of default of any hotel, carrier,
restaurant, company or person rendering any services included in the Workshops, or by act of God. Further, no
responsibilities are accepted for any damage or delay
due to sickness, pilferage, labor disputes, machinery
breakdown, quarantine, government restraints, weather,
terrorism, or other causes beyond their control. No
responsibility is accepted for any additional expenses,
omissions, delays, rerouting or acts of any government
or authority. Baggage remains at owner’s risk throughout
the Workshop Vacation. The passage contract in use by
the carriers concerned, when issued, shall constitute the
sole contract between the carriers and the purchasers of
these Painting Workshop Vacations and/or the passengers.
The right is reserved to withdraw any Painting Workshop
Vacation and/or to make such changes in the Painting
Workshop Vacation as may be found desirable for the
convenience of the parties and the proper carrying-out
of the Painting Workshop Vacation. Registration for any
Painting Workshop Vacation constitutes a contract which
shall be construed in accordance with the laws of the State
of Victoria, Australia and any legal action must be taken in
the State of Victoria.
