Renata is a Perth-based award-winning artist and teacher who has taught for over 20 years and has led a number of travel sketching tours. Renata is a member of the Watercolour Society of Western Australia, she is passionate about art and travelling, and she enjoys spending time showing other artists how she captures the surrounding landscapes in her travel diary. Renata’s teaching methods are fun, clear, and suitable for artists of all skill levels. On the travel sketching tour you will be working in small travel sketching diaries. Renata will provide short demonstrations, giving you plenty of time to work on your own sketches and paintings. Renata will also spend plenty of time one-to-one with you while you paint.
VIEW ITINERARY
DAY 1: Sunday 2 June, 2024 Paris
Workshop members will be met at Paris (CDG)
airport at 2.00pm. Tonight we will celebrate with a
welcome drinks party and dinner.
DAY 2: Monday 3 June, 2024
Paris
Today we will travel by train and visit the Musee
D’Orsay. It is housed in the former Gare d’Orsay,
an impressive Beaux-Arts railway station built
between 1898 and 1900. The museum holds
mainly French art dating from 1848 to 1915,
including paintings, sculptures, furniture, and
photography. It is probably best known for its
extensive collection of impressionist and postimpressionist
masterpieces (the largest in the
world) by such painters such as Monet, Manet,
Degas, Renoir, Cézanne, Seurat, Sisley, Gauguin
and Van Gogh. Renata will guide the group
through the museum then there will be free time
to explore the museum on your own. We will have
a painting session close by in the afternoon.
DAY 3: Tuesday 4 June, 2024
Paris
We will travel to Trocadero, which has the best
view of the Eiffel Tower from the opposite side of
the river Seine for a half day of painting. Renata
will paint a demonstration and assist workshop
members individually. There will be free time in
the afternoon. In the evening, we will depart on
our “Paris by night tour”. The tour will drive past
the famous floodlit monuments of Paris such as
the Louvre, Pont Neuf, Notre-Dame, Hôtel de Ville,
Champs-Elysées and the Eiffel tower.
DAY 4: Wednesday 5 June, 2024
Paris
Today Renata will lead the group on a visit to
the Louvre, one of the world’s largest museums
and the most visited art museum in the world. A
central landmark of Paris, it is located on the Right
Bank of the Seine. Nearly 35,000 objects from
prehistory to the 19th century are exhibited here.
There will also be time for recording your day in
your travel diary during the day.
DAY 5: Thursday 6 June, 2024
Paris
Today we travel to Giverny to visit Monet’s
Garden. On arrival explore the beautiful gardens
that inspired many of Monet’s paintings including
the Water Garden with its iconic Japanese bridge.
In the afternoon we head to the nearby Musée
des Impressionnismes to learn more about the
Impressionist movement and Monet’s life and
work. We will also have time for a sketching and
painting session in Giverny.
DAY 6: Friday 7 June, 2024
Paris
This morning we travel to the famous hill of
Montmartre towards the Sacré-Coeur Basilica.
In the past, many artists lived, worked and
had studios here. We take in the charming
cobblestone streets, quaint shops, and historic
architecture in the area then head to the top to
enjoy the breathtaking view of Paris and the Eiffel
Tower. In the afternoon enjoy a painting session
with Renata.
DAY 7 Saturday 8 June, 2024
Aix en Provence
Today we travel by fast train to Aix en Provence,
one of France’s most graceful cities, with its
majestic public squares, shaded avenues and
charming fountains. Aix en Provence is also
famous for being the home and inspiration for
Paul Cezanne, who did much of his painting
in and around the city. An included dinner will
be held at our hotel this evening. Note: No
painting session today but plenty of time to
take reference photos and gather inspiration for
future paintings.
DAY 8: Sunday 9 June, 2024
Aix en Provence
This morning we will take a walking sightseeing
tour of Aix en Provence with a local guide who will
provide background on all the important sights.
The tour will visit Vieux Aix, the charming old
town of Aix with its elegant mansions, pleasant
squares and charming fountains and Cours
Mirabeau, a stunning boulevard with a beautiful
canopy of fine plane trees and fountains. After
lunch Renata will start the painting program with
a demonstration in a picturesque part of the town
and give you personal assistance and helpful
advice as you work.
DAY 9: Monday 10 June, 2024
Aix en Provence
Today we will explore the vibrant markets in the historic center of Aix en Provence. Browse the local produce, artisanal crafts, and colorful textiles. We will also enjoy a painting session capturing the market scene under Renata’s helpful eye.
DAY 10: Tuesday 11 June, 2024
Aix en Provence
Today the group will visit the historic town of Avignon where Renata will join you as you explore and paint subjects such as the impressive Palace of the Popes and old Avignon, as well as the museums and the market area. We travel back to Aix en Provence for an evening at leisure, stopping for sightseeing and pictures at the breathtaking Roman Pont Du Gard aqueduct.
DAY 11: Wednesday 12 June, 2024
Aix en Provence
You will spend this day exploring the countryside of Provence. We will take you to the delightful town of St Remy de Provence to see the asylum where Vincent Van Gogh was confined in 1889 after he cut off his ear following his split with Gauguin. There will be a painting session in the nearby olive groves before we take you to the interesting hill town of Le Baux on the way back to an evening of leisure in Aix en Provence.
DAY 12: Thursday 13 June, 2024
Aix en Provence
Today we will visit Atelier de Cezanne, which was the artist Paul Cezanne’s workspace for over 40 years. We will explore the studio, which has been preserved as it was during Cezanne’s lifetime, and see his art materials and personal belongings. The surrounding gardens and landscapes were also subjects of Cezanne’s famous paintings. Renata will find a great spot for a demonstration and a painting. In the afternoon Renata will hold her final critique session. We believe you will be thrilled with what you have learnt from her. We will come together for an included farewell dinner to celebrate the success of the workshop.
DAY 13: Friday 14 June, 2024
Departure
Time to say farewell. After breakfast you will be transferred to Marseille airport for afternoon return flights.

1. Payment Conditions:
A reservation deposit of $500 per person is required at the time of booking. Final payment is due 60 days prior to the date of departure. A 1.5% administration charge will be added to payments by Visa, Mastercard and Amex.
2. Alteration to Workshop Vacation Price:
The Painting Workshop Vacation price is subject to change in the event of unforeseen circumstances and changes in the cost of travel and accommodation services. Should any increase in the Workshop Vacation price be unacceptable to the registered member, a full refund of monies paid will be made.
3. Cancellation and Amendments:
Cancellations received in writing 60 or more days from the date of departure will result in a cancellation fee of $500 per person. Cancellations received 60 or fewer days before departure will result in a loss of all monies paid. There are no refunds for services not utilized while on a Workshop Vacation. Travel insurance is highly recommended to cover Workshop members for the consequences of unforeseen events during the Workshop Vacation and for cancellation fees that could result from illness, accident, death or other contingencies. Once a booking has been confirmed, one amendment to travel arrangements will be made free-of charge. Subsequent changes to travel arrangements will incur an amendment fee of $25 per change in addition to supplier charges.
4. Minimum Workshop Vacation Numbers:
Each Painting Workshop Vacation has been priced on the basis of a minimum number of members travelling. In the event that fewer than the minimum number of members have confirmed their booking 60 days from the date of commencement, Travelrite International reserves the right to cancel the Workshop Vacation, giving a full refund of monies paid, or to offer arrangements to proceed with the Workshop Vacation at a modified price.
5. General:
In the unlikely event that the Workshop tutor is unable to perform his or her duties due to unforeseen contingencies, Travelrite International reserves the right to substitute another artist as tutor or to continue with the Workshop Vacation as planned or to provide a cash refund to Workshop members equivalent to the value of the Workshop leadership. International Artist Painting Workshops can involve a considerable amount of walking and stair-climbing in the regions visited and it is important that all members have a level of physical fitness that allows them to take part in these activities without the need of assistance from others.
6. Tax Considerations:
If you regularly sell your own paintings, you may fall into the semi-professional or professional category for taxation purposes and the tour cost may be tax-deductible. We recommend that you seek the advice of a qualified tax adviser.
7. Responsibilities:
Travelrite International Pty Ltd., their agents, officers, affiliates, and/or suppliers of services pursuant to or in connection with these Workshop Vacations shall act only as agents in making arrangements for hotels, transportation, restaurants, or any other service and do not assume any liability whatsoever for any injury, damage, death, loss, accident or delay to person or property due to an act of negligence or of default of any hotel, carrier, restaurant, company or person rendering any services included in the Workshops, or by act of God. Further, no responsibilities are accepted for any damage or delay due to sickness, pilferage, labor disputes, machinery breakdown, quarantine, government restraints, weather, terrorism, or other causes beyond their control. No responsibility is accepted for any additional expenses, omissions, delays, rerouting or acts of any government or authority. Baggage remains at owner’s risk throughout the Workshop Vacation. The passage contract in use by the carriers concerned, when issued, shall constitute the sole contract between the carriers and the purchasers of these Painting Workshop Vacations and/or the passengers. The right is reserved to withdraw any Painting Workshop Vacation and/or to make such changes in the Painting Workshop Vacation as may be found desirable for the convenience of the parties and the proper carrying-out of the Painting Workshop Vacation. Registration for any Painting Workshop Vacation constitutes a contract which shall be construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Victoria, Australia and any legal action must be taken in the State of Victoria.
