without doubt one of Asia’s most beautiful
cities, with its French style architecture, narrow
alleyways packed with bicycles and merchants,
beautiful lakes, a magnificent Opera House and
delightful low-rise buildings produce a unique
ambience. This evening the group will meet for
welcome drinks and Chan will outline his plans for
the workshop. There will be an included dinner

wanting to arrive earlier can be arranged through
Travelrite along with a private transfer).
DAY 2 Wednesday 6 March, 2024
Hanoi
This morning we will have a sightseeing tour of
Hanoi with a local guide. We will see the Ho Chi
Minh Mausoleum complex followed by a ride
on a cyclo through the Old Quarter. The city has
had an amazing history and witnessed numerous
incursions from China, seen a host of Vietnamese emperors come and go, and at one time even lost
its status as the nation’s capital. With the coming
of the French at the end of the 19th century, the
city gained a new lease of life. This European
influence can still be seen in the elegant colonial
buildings that line the broad tree-lined boulevards
of much of the city. After lunch, there will be time
for painting in one of the nearby back streets.
DAY 3 Thursday 7 March, 2024
Hanoi
A full day of painting in Hanoi with Chan.

This morning we will board our flight to Danang.
On arrival, we travel beside China Beach, to reach
the ancient town of Hoi An. The large community
of foreign merchants living in Hoi An between
the 16th and 18th centuries resulted in a unique
display of architecture, combining Vietnamese,
Chinese and Japanese cultures. Our hotel is
a short stroll from the colourful and bustling
Ancient Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Hoi
An has a distinct Chinese atmosphere with low,
tile-roofed houses and narrow streets, the original
structure of some of these streets still remain
intact. All the houses were made of rare wood,
decorated with lacquered boards and panels
engraved with Chinese characters. Tonight we will
have an included dinner.
DAY 7 Monday 11 March, 2024

streets of the Ancient Quarter. We will visit

“It was so well organized. We got to see all the best places, but without feeling we were being herded around like cattle, like you do on some tours. There was plenty of time to paint, and the instructor told me more about how to improve my painting style in weeks than I have learned all year back home. I really did get individual attention.”
“I particularly enjoyed meeting people with similar interests and having a working reason for being in a location.”
