Terry Jarvis was born in the small rural town of Castlemaine in central Victoria, and is one of Australia’s leading watercolour artists. He is deeply committed to stimulating the student to achieve proficient and worthwhile outcomes. His wide experience in all facets of watercolour painting will provide the basis of an extraordinary time in your painting lives! Terry will do his utmost to help you paint better paintings and to enjoy the companionship of so many likeminded students. The emphasis is on learning and having fun together.

Workshop members will be met at Launceston
city at 11.30am or Launceston airport at 12.00pm
midday, and transferred to the beautiful town
of Smithton. Tonight the group will meet for
welcome drinks and an included dinner.
DAY 2: Sunday 17 November, 2024
Smithton, Tasmania
This morning Terry will commence his first
painting workshop with a demonstration and then
assist workshop members individually with their
work in the beautiful town of Smithton. On a clear
day, you might be lucky enough to see Perkins and
Robbins Islands off in the Bass Strait. This pretty
little coastal town sits right on Duck Bay. Tonight
we will enjoy an included dinner.
DAY 3: Monday 18 November, 2024
Smithton, Tasmania
Today we travel to the town of Stanley. On arrival
in this historic town, we will take the chairlift up to
The Nut, the remains of an ancient volcanic plug.
Enjoy the fantastic 360 degree view over the town
of Stanley, the sea and the spectacular coast line.
The remainder of the day will be spent painting in
Stanley. Tonight we will enjoy an included dinner.
DAY 4: Tuesday 19 November, 2024
Smithton, Tasmania
A full day of painting in North West Tasmania.

DAY 5: Wednesday 20 November, 2024
Strahan, Tasmania
Today we travel onto Strahan. Strahan is a pretty
little port on Macquarie Harbour and the only
town on Tasmania’s forbidding West Coast.
Originally a Huon pine timber milling town its
growth was boosted by the copper boom at the
Mt Lyell mine. When the Strahan Zeehan railway
opened in 1892 it became a busy port. Today it
handles freight to and from Queenstown and is
used by crayfish, abalone and shark fishermen.
Tonight we will enjoy an included dinner.
DAY 6: Thursday 21 November, 2024
Strahan, Tasmania
This morning Terry will find a great painting
location in Strahan and complete a
demonstration. Following this, Terry will assist
individual workshop members with their painting.

DAY 7: Friday 22 November, 2024
Strahan, Tasmania
This morning we will cruise on the world-famous
Gordon River. While on the cruise you will enjoy an
included lunch. The ancient, mirror like waters of
the Gordon River meander down from their source
in the Central Highlands, through a breathtaking
World Heritage river cape of temperate rainforest
and mountain crag, to the mouth of Macquarie
Harbour. The Macquarie Harbour is more than 110 square miles of natural, protected water
surrounding the crumbling history of Sarah Island
and gives way to the open ocean through the
narrow and turbulent Hell’s Gates. You will see Hell’s
Gate where the harbour opens to the Southern
Ocean, Tasmania’s world-renowned salmon farms,
and you’ll visit notorious Sarah Island, the feared
penal colony. This will be a wonderful photo and
sketching opportunity for you. Tonight we will
enjoy an included dinner.
DAY 8: Saturday 23 November, 2024
Hobart, Tasmania
We say farewell to Strahan as we head towards
Hobart, we will stop at The Wall in the Wilderness
near Derwent Bridge. It is Australia’s most
ambitious art project undertaken in recent years.
Creator/designer, Greg Duncan carved the history
of the highlands in 100 metres of rare Huon Pine.
We then continue our journey on to Hobart.
DAY 9: Sunday 24 November, 2024
Hobart, Tasmania
Today we will enjoy a full day of painting in
beautiful Hobart with Terry Jarvis. The group will
paint the 19th century waterfront warehouses
for which the city is famous. The warehouses
were once busy with whalers, soldiers, petty
bureaucrats and opportunist businessmen, now
they house cafes, restaurants and studios and
bustle with shoppers and visitors. In the afternoon,
we will enjoy a valuable critique session.
DAY 10: Monday 25 November, 2024
Hobart, Tasmania
Today we travel to the riverside township of
Franklin for a full day of painting. There is a lot of
old-fashioned Tasmanian charm in Franklin, from
the quaint historic buildings and streetscape to
the pretty wooden boats floating on the Huon
River. Located in the ultra-scenic Huon Valley,
Franklin is the oldest township in the region and
sits quietly on the western side of the beautiful
Huon River.
DAY 11: Tuesday 26 November, 2024
Hobart, Tasmania
Today we will travel to Port Arthur for a full day
of sightseeing and sketching. Between 1830
and 1877 about 12,500 transported convicts
were imprisoned at Port Arthur, on the shores
of a beautiful bay and set against the tranquil
hills and forest of the Tasman Peninsula. Many
of the sandstone prison buildings remain and
have been preserved. On arrival we will have a
tour of the prison giving you an impression of
what life might have been like in the 1800s for
the convicts, soldiers and civilians. After lunch,
there will be time for sketching. We will return to
Hobart in the afternoon.
DAY 12: Wednesday 27 November, 2024
Hobart, Tasmania
This morning we will travel to Richmond, a
beautiful old town with Georgian cottages of
mellow sandstone standing in pretty cottage
gardens. Ducks on the Coal River swim to and fro
under Australia’s oldest bridge, built by convict
labour between 1823/25. In late 2005, the Bridge
was recognised as one of Australia’s outstanding
historic places and added to the National Heritage
List. Terry will demonstrate how to capture
the beauty of this picturesque area and assist workshop members with their painting. This
afternoon there will be a final critique sessions
followed by included farewell drinks and dinner.
DAY 13: Thursday 28 November, 2024
Hobart, Tasmania
This morning we will say farewell to Hobart and
travel to Hobart airport to meet midday flights.

1. Payment Conditions:
A non-refundable deposit of $500 per person is required at
the time of booking. Final payment is due 60 days prior to the
date of departure. A 1.5% administration charge will be added
to payments by credit card.
2. Alteration to Workshop Vacation Price:
The Painting Workshop Vacation price is subject to change
in the event of unforeseen circumstances and changes in
the cost of travel and accommodation services. Should any
increase in the Workshop Vacation price be unacceptable
to the registered member, a full refund of monies paid will
be made.
3. Cancellation and Amendments:
* Cancellation conditions don’t apply for clients with future cruise/tour credits. Cruise/tour credits are non-refundable.
Cancellations received in writing 60 or more days from the
date of departure will result in a cancellation fee of $500
per person. Cancellations received 60 or fewer days before
departure will result in a loss of all monies paid. There are no
refunds for services not utilized while on a Workshop Vacation.
Travel insurance is highly recommended to cover Workshop
members for the consequences of unforeseen events during
the Workshop Vacation and for cancellation fees that could
result from illness, accident, death or other contingencies.
Once a booking has been confirmed, one amendment to
travel arrangements will be made free-of charge. Subsequent
changes to travel arrangements will incur an amendment fee
of $75 per change in addition to supplier charges.
4. Minimum Workshop Vacation Numbers:
Each Painting Workshop Vacation has been priced on the
basis of a minimum number of members travelling. In the event that fewer than the minimum number of members
have confirmed their booking 60 days from the date of
commencement, Travelrite International reserves the right to
cancel the Workshop Vacation, giving a full refund of monies
paid, or to offer arrangements to proceed with the Workshop
Vacation at a modified price.
5. General:
In the unlikely event that the Workshop tutor is unable to
perform his or her duties due to unforeseen contingencies,
Travelrite International reserves the right to substitute
another artist as tutor or to continue with the Workshop
Vacation as planned or to provide a cash refund to Workshop
members equivalent to the value of the Workshop leadership.
International Artist Painting Workshops can involve a
considerable amount of walking and stair-climbing in the
regions visited and it is important that all members have a
level of physical fitness that allows them to take part in these
activities without the need of assistance from others.
6. Tax Considerations:
If you regularly sell your own paintings, you may fall into
the semi-professional or professional category for taxation
purposes and the tour cost may be tax-deductible. We
recommend that you seek the advice of a qualified tax
adviser.
7. Responsibilities:
Travelrite International Pty Ltd., their agents, officers, affiliates,
and/or suppliers of services pursuant to or in connection with
these Workshop Vacations shall act only as agents in making
arrangements for hotels, transportation, restaurants, or any
other service and do not assume any liability whatsoever for
any injury, damage, death, loss, accident or delay to person
or property due to an act of negligence or of default of any
hotel, carrier, restaurant, company or person rendering any services included in the Workshops, or by act of God. Further,
no responsibilities are accepted for any damage or delay due
to sickness, pilferage, labor disputes, machinery breakdown,
quarantine, government restraints, weather, terrorism,
or other causes beyond their control. No responsibility is
accepted for any additional expenses, omissions, delays,
rerouting or acts of any government or authority. Baggage
remains at owner’s risk throughout the Workshop Vacation.
The passage contract in use by the carriers concerned, when
issued, shall constitute the sole contract between the carriers
and the purchasers of these Painting Workshop Vacations
and/or the passengers. The right is reserved to withdraw any
Painting Workshop Vacation and/or to make such changes in
the Painting Workshop Vacation as may be found desirable
for the convenience of the parties and the proper carryingout
of the Painting Workshop Vacation. Registration for any
Painting Workshop Vacation constitutes a contract which
shall be construed in accordance with the laws of the State of
Victoria, Australia and any legal action must be taken in the
State of Victoria.
