Robyn Collier has over 40 years of painting experience and is regarded as one of Australia’s foremost wilderness artists – preferring to paint the natural world and aspects of it. She has conducted workshops throughout Australia and New Zealand for the past 12 years, published many articles, held over 30 exhibitions and made numerous television appearances. Her work has won multiple awards and is in prestigious collections in most countries in the world. She has taken part in many ‘Artist-in-Residence’ programs – both on the mainland of Australia’s and many remote islands. Robyn’s philosophy is simple – “I want to show people the magic of the natural world through my work.”

This will also be the base from which we will explore and paint the many areas that simply must be painted in Western Australia.
DAY 3: Tuesday 22 October, 2024
Today our excursion from Margaret River takes us to the famous Busselton Jetty, the longest in Australia. This wood pier stretches nearly 2km to the Underwater Observatory, where life in a coral reef is on view. Robyn will find a great location for today’s painting session. There will be regular critique sessions during the workshop.

This morning we travel to Augusta and Cape Leeuwin, where the Southern and Indian Oceans meet. The cape, the most south-westerly point in Australia, has a rugged coastline and a lighthouse built in 1895. Robyn will find a great painting location close to the light house and show you how to paint it. We will drive through the majestic Boranup Karri Forest and admire the pale, slender trees towering up to 60 meters. Today we also explore the underground wonderland of Mammoth Cave, it is one of just a few caves in the south west which contains fossils. Our visit to Mammoth Cave finishes with a winding walk through the beautiful marri forest, with whistling birds and stunning flora displays. These incredible wonders of nature are right at our doorstep. Tonight we will enjoy an included dinner.

This morning we travel north along the coast, stopping in Yanchep National Park. We then continue our journey to Cervantes, a small coastal town in Western Australia, north of Perth. DAY 10: Tuesday 29 October, 2024
Today we travel to Nambung National Park to see the Pinnacles Desert that contains thousands of limestone pillars. “It was so well organized. We got to see all the best places, but without feeling we were being herded around like cattle, like you do on some tours. There was plenty of time to paint, and the instructor told me more about how to improve my painting style in weeks than I have learned all year back home. I really did get individual attention.”
“I particularly enjoyed meeting people with similar interests and having a working reason for being in a location.”
