Thirteen spectacular days of painting, sketching and exploring the picturesque regions of Tasmania, Australia. Tasmania is a place of wild and beautiful landscapes, wonderful wine and food and a rich history, and will be a delight to paint. Distinguished artist, David Taylor, will show you how to capture the best of Tasmania in watercolour. This will be a wonderful opportunity to discover these charming towns and enjoy the exceptional scenery and history of the region.


Distinguished artist, David Taylor, has exhibited with the world's major watercolour societies and has gained international acclaim through winning many important awards from all over the world. David was the Victorian Artists Society "Artist of the Year" in 1976, 1980, and 1989. He was elected to the elite Australian Watercolour Institute in the early 1980s. He is respected worldwide for his painting and instruction on the art of watercolour.

Workshop participants meet in Launceston city or Launceston Airport, then transfer to Smithton. Enjoy welcome drinks and an included dinner. (D)
DAY 2 Friday 13 November 2026 Smithton
David leads the first painting workshop with a demonstration, followed by individual guidance. Paint in and around the scenic township of Smithton on Duck Bay. Included dinner this evening. (B, D)
DAY 3 Saturday 14 November 2026 Smithton/Stanley
Travel to the historic coastal town of Stanley. Ride the chairlift to the summit of The Nut for 360-degree views. Spend the rest of the day painting this charming town. Included dinner this evening. (B, D)
DAY 4 Sunday 15 November 2026 Smithton/Stanley
Visit Highfield House, a beautifully preserved Georgian mansion, then dedicate the remainder of the day to painting this historic site and its surroundings. Included dinner this evening. (B, D)
DAY 5 Monday 16 November 2026 Strahan
Journey south to Strahan, a charming harbour town on the remote West Coast. Enjoy free time to explore or sketch this atmospheric coastal setting. Included dinner this evening. (B, D)
DAY 6 Tuesday 17 November 2026 Strahan
David conducts a painting demonstration at a stunning local location, followed by a dedicated day of painting with personalised support. Included dinner this evening. (B, D)
DAY 7 Wednesday 18 November 2026 Strahan/Gordon River
Cruise on the world-renowned Gordon River, including an included lunch onboard. Pass through Hell's Gates and stop at Sarah Island. Bring your sketchbooks! Included dinner this evening. (B, L, D)
DAY 8 Thursday 19 November 2026 Hobart
Farewell Strahan and head east. Stop at The Wall in the Wilderness, a remarkable 100-metre-long sculpture carved in Huon pine. Continue to Hobart, arriving in the late afternoon. (B)
DAY 9 Friday 20 November 2026 Hobart
Travel to the scenic riverside town of Franklin in the Huon Valley for a full day of painting to capture Tasmanian rural life. (B)
DAY 10 Saturday 21 November 2026 Hobart
Explore the famous Salamanca Market this morning. The painting session takes place in historic Salamanca Place, home to iconic 19th-century waterfront warehouses. (B)
DAY 11 Sunday 22 November 2026 Hobart
Travel to a local winery for a full day of painting and a relaxed included lunch. David will provide a painting demonstration and individual assistance. (B, L)
DAY 12 Monday 23 November 2026 Hobart
Enjoy our final painting session in Hobart this morning. The afternoon is free to complete work or relax. A final group critique, farewell drinks, and an included dinner conclude the artistic journey. (B, D)

Say goodbye to Tasmania. Transfers to Hobart Airport will be arranged in time for midday flights. (B)

International Artist Painting Workshops can involve a considerable amount of walking and stair-climbing in the regions visited and it is important that all members have a level of physical fitness that allows them to take part in these activities without the need of assistance from others.
Payment Conditions:
A reservation deposit of $500 per person is required at the time of booking. Final payment is due 60 days prior to the date of departure. A 1.5% administration charge will be added to payments by Visa, Mastercard and Amex.
Alteration to Workshop Vacation Price:
The Painting Workshop Vacation price is subject to change in the event of unforeseen circumstances and changes in the cost of travel and accommodation services. Should any increase in the Workshop Vacation price be unacceptable to the registered member, a full refund of monies paid will be made.
Cancellation and Amendments:
Cancellations received in writing 60 or more days from the date of departure will result in a cancellation fee of $500 per person. Cancellations received 60 or fewer days before departure will result in a loss of all monies paid. There are no refunds for services not utilized while on a Workshop Vacation. Once a booking has been confirmed, one amendment to travel arrangements will be made free of charge. Subsequent changes to travel arrangements will incur an amendment fee of $25 per change in addition to supplier charges.
Minimum Workshop Vacation Numbers:
Each Painting Workshop Vacation has been priced on the basis of a minimum number of members travelling. In the event that fewer than the minimum number of members have confirmed their booking 60 days from the date of commencement, Travelrite International reserves the right to cancel the Workshop Vacation, giving a full refund of monies paid, or to offer arrangements to proceed with the Workshop Vacation at a modified price.
General:
In the unlikely event that the Workshop tutor is unable to perform his or her duties due to unforeseen contingencies, Travelrite International reserves the right to substitute another artist as tutor or to continue with the Workshop Vacation as planned or to provide a cash refund to Workshop members equivalent to the value of the Workshop leadership.
Tax Considerations:
If you regularly sell your own paintings, you may fall into the semi-professional or professional category for taxation purposes and the tour cost may be tax-deductible. We recommend that you seek the advice of a qualified tax adviser.
Responsibilities:
Travelrite International Pty Ltd is the tour organiser. Baggage remains at owner's risk throughout the Workshop Vacation. Registration for any Painting Workshop Vacation constitutes a contract which shall be construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Victoria, Australia and any legal action must be taken in the State of Victoria.
