DAY 1 Saturday 13 February 2027 Hobart
Upon arrival at Hobart Airport at 12:00pm, workshop participants will be warmly welcomed by the tour manager. We will then board our comfortable coach for a sightseeing tour of Hobart before checking into our hotel. Tonight, the group will meet for welcome drinks and an included dinner.
DAY 2 Sunday 14 February 2027 Hobart
Today we will enjoy a full day of painting in beautiful Hobart with Annee Kelly. The group will paint at the waterfront. The warehouses were once busy with whalers, soldiers, petty bureaucrats and opportunist businessmen, now they house cafes, restaurants and studios and bustle with shoppers and visitors. In the afternoon, we will enjoy a valuable critique session.
DAY 3 Monday 15 February 2027 Hobart
Today we travel to the riverside township of Franklin for a full day of painting. There is a lot of old-fashioned Tasmanian charm in Franklin, from the quaint historic buildings and streetscape to the pretty wooden boats floating on the Huon River. Located in the ultra-scenic Huon Valley, Franklin is the oldest township in the region and sits quietly on the western side of the beautiful Huon River.
DAY 4 Tuesday 16 February 2027 Hobart
This morning, we will travel to Richmond, a beautiful old town with Georgian cottages of mellow sandstone standing in pretty cottage gardens. Ducks on the Coal River swim to and fro under Australia's oldest bridge, built by convict labour between 1823 and 1825. In late 2005, the Bridge was recognised as one of Australia's outstanding historic places and added to the National Heritage List. Annee will demonstrate how to capture the beauty of this picturesque area and assist workshop members with their painting.
DAY 5 Wednesday 17 February 2027 Hobart
Today we travel to a local winery for a full day of painting and a relaxed included lunch. Annee will provide a painting demonstration and individual assistance.
DAY 6 Thursday 18 February 2027 Strahan
Today we travel onto Strahan. Strahan is a pretty little port on Macquarie Harbour and the only town on Tasmania's forbidding West Coast. Originally a Huon Pine timber milling town its growth was boosted by the copper boom at the Mt Lyell mine. When the Strahan Zeehan railway opened in 1892 it became a busy port. Today it handles freight to and from Queenstown and is used by crayfish, abalone and shark fishermen. En route, we stop at The Wall in the Wilderness, a remarkable 100-metre-long sculpture carved in rare Huon pine by artist Greg Duncan. This ambitious art installation tells the story of Tasmania's highlands and heritage. There will be an included dinner this evening.
DAY 7 Friday 19 February 2027 Strahan
This morning, we will cruise on the world-famous Gordon River. The ancient, mirror like waters of the Gordon River meander down from their source in the Central Highlands, through a breathtaking World Heritage River cape of temperate rainforest and mountain crag, to the mouth of Macquarie Harbour. The Macquarie Harbour is more than 110 square miles of natural, protected water surrounding the crumbling history of Sarah Island and gives way to the open ocean through the narrow and turbulent Hell's Gates. You will see Hell's Gate where the harbour opens to the Southern Ocean, Tasmania's world-renowned salmon farms, and you will visit notorious Sarah Island, the feared penal colony. There will be an included lunch on the cruise. This will be a wonderful photo and sketching opportunity for you. There will be an included dinner this evening.
DAY 8 Saturday 20 February 2027 Strahan
This morning Annee will find a great painting location in Strahan and complete a demonstration. Following this, Annee will assist individual workshop members with their painting. There will be an included dinner this evening.
DAY 9 Sunday 21 February 2027 Smithton
Today, we continue our journey north to Tall Timbers in Smithton, a charming and peaceful destination that offers a true taste of Tasmania's natural beauty. Along the way, we will make a scenic stop at Tullah Lakeside Lodge, nestled on the shores of Lake Rosebery. Surrounded by lush rainforest and towering mountains, this picturesque location provides the opportunity to stretch your legs and soak in the tranquil atmosphere of this beautiful part of Tasmania. After our stop at Tullah, we will continue our drive toward Smithton, where we will check into Tall Timbers, ready to enjoy the warm hospitality and stunning surroundings of this iconic regional lodge. This evening there is an included dinner at our hotel.
DAY 10 Monday 22 February 2027 Smithton
Today we travel to the town of Stanley. On arrival in this historic town, we will take the chairlift up to The Nut, the remains of an ancient volcanic plug. Enjoy the fantastic 360-degree view over the town of Stanley, the sea and the spectacular coastline. The remainder of the day will be spent painting in Stanley. There will be an included dinner this evening.
DAY 11 Tuesday 23 February 2027 Smithton
Today, we visit Highfield House, a beautifully preserved Georgian mansion that offers a compelling window into Tasmania's colonial past. As we explore this historic property, we will gain insight into the early European settlement of the region and the pivotal role played by the Van Diemen's Land Company in shaping the area's development. The remainder of the day will be dedicated to painting, with time to capture the atmosphere and charm of this significant site and its surroundings. This evening there will be an included dinner.
DAY 12 Wednesday 24 February 2027 Smithton
Our final painting session in Northwest Tasmania will be held this morning. This afternoon there will be time to complete unfinished work, followed by a final critique session. This evening, we will enjoy an included farewell drinks and dinner.

“It was so well organized. We got to see all the best places, but without feeling we were being herded around like cattle, like you do on some tours. There was plenty of time to paint, and the instructor told me more about how to improve my painting style in weeks than I have learned all year back home. I really did get individual attention.”
“I particularly enjoyed meeting people with similar interests and having a working reason for being in a location.”
