Continue to Annecy, the "Venice of the Alps", with its crystal-clear canals and mountain backdrop. Paint along the Thiou Canal, cruise Lake Annecy, and visit nearby Chambéry. With daily plein air sessions, demonstrations, and personal guidance from Tony, this tour offers a truly rewarding artistic experience in the heart of France.


Tony was born in Croatia in 1958. He studied architecture and engineering before moving to New York to pursue art. Since 1989, he has been living and working as a freelance artist in Sydney, Australia. Tony travels and exhibits overseas regularly and conducts workshops in Australia and overseas. Watercolours and acrylics have been the mediums of choice. His style could be described as contemporary impressionism, using spontaneous brushstrokes and vivid colours.

DAY 1 Monday 24 August 2026 Sarlat La Caneda, France
Welcome to France. Your artistic journey begins as you arrive at Bordeaux Airport, where the tour manager will greet tour members at 1:00 PM. From there, we will travel through the rolling hills and picturesque countryside of southwest France to Sarlat-la-Canéda, a beautifully preserved medieval town nestled in the heart of the Dordogne region. Sarlat is famed for its labyrinth of narrow cobbled streets, graceful archways, and golden stone houses. In the evening, join your fellow travellers for welcome drinks followed by a delicious dinner, where you will have the chance to get to know each other and discuss the exciting days ahead.
DAY 2 Tuesday 25 August 2026 Sarlat La Caneda
This morning, enjoy a guided walking tour with an expert English-speaking guide through the streets of Sarlat-la-Canéda. Highlights of the tour include the Maison de la Boétie, an outstanding example of early 16th-century Renaissance architecture, and insights into the town's early development around a 9th-century Benedictine Abbey. In the afternoon, join Tony for your first plein air painting session. The session begins with a live demonstration, followed by one-on-one guidance.
DAY 3 Wednesday 26 August 2026 Sarlat La Caneda
Today we travel to the hilltop village of Domme for a wonderful day of painting. Perched high above the Dordogne Valley, this beautifully preserved medieval town offers sweeping views and timeless charm. Enclosed by ancient walls and grand gateways, Domme invites you to wander its cobbled streets lined with golden-stone cottages before settling in to paint under Tony's guidance.
DAY 4 Thursday 27 August 2026 Sarlat La Caneda
Today, we will paint in the stunning town of Sarlat La Caneda. Tony will begin the day with a painting demonstration, showcasing his techniques, followed by personalised guidance as he assists each workshop member with individual attention to help bring their artistic vision to life.
DAY 5 Friday 28 August 2026 Sarlat La Caneda
Today we visit the remarkable cliffside village of Rocamadour, one of France's most breathtaking pilgrimage sites. We will discover the town's winding streets, ancient chapels, and spectacular views over the Alzou Gorge a true highlight of the Dordogne region. Tony will start the day with a painting demonstration followed by individual tuition.
DAY 6 Saturday 29 August 2026 Sarlat La Caneda
A full day of painting takes us to Beynac-et-Cazenac, one of France's most beautiful villages, located along the banks of the River Dordogne. With its narrow lanes rising steeply to the Château de Beynac, and a picture-perfect waterfront lined with honey-coloured stone houses, Beynac offers unforgettable views at every turn. Spend a full day painting this idyllic setting. This evening there will be an included dinner.
DAY 7 Sunday 30 August 2026 Annecy, France
Today we travel by private coach to the stunning Alpine town of Annecy, often called the "Venice of the Alps" for its crystal-clear canals, flower-lined bridges, and pastel-coloured medieval buildings. Nestled at the northern tip of Lac d'Annecy, one of Europe's cleanest and most scenic lakes, this enchanting town is framed by mountains and brimming with Old World charm. Upon arrival, we will check in to our accommodation located within easy walking distance of the historic old town, with its cobblestone streets, vibrant markets, and lively cafés. This evening there will be an included dinner.
DAY 8 Monday 31 August 2026 Annecy
Today, we will enjoy the charm of Annecy by painting along the picturesque Thiou Canal, often likened to Venice for its graceful waterways and quaint bridges. Tony will begin the day with an inspiring painting demonstration, sharing techniques to capture the delicate reflections on the water and the vibrant life along the canal banks.
DAY 9 Tuesday 1 September 2026 Annecy
This morning, we will embark on a scenic sightseeing cruise on the pristine waters of Lake Annecy, often celebrated as the purest lake in Europe. As we glide across the crystal-clear surface, take in breathtaking views of the surrounding snow-capped Alps, charming lakeside villages, and lush green hillsides that create an idyllic natural setting. After the cruise, we will settle nearby on the lake's tranquil shore for a plein air painting session. Tony will begin with a demonstration, guiding you through techniques to capture the shimmering water, dramatic reflections, and majestic backdrop.
DAY 10 Wednesday 2 September 2026 Annecy
Today, Tony will select an inspiring painting location in Annecy, where he will begin with a demonstration to showcase his technique and approach. Following the demonstration, he will provide personalised guidance and support, assisting each workshop member individually as they work to capture the beauty of the scene.
DAY 11 Thursday 3 September 2026 Annecy
This morning, we will travel to the charming town of Chambéry for a full day of painting and exploration. Nestled in the heart of the Rhône-Alpes region, Chambéry offers breathtaking panoramic views of the French Alps in nearly every direction. Throughout the day, you will find inspiring spots to paint - from the bustling medieval streets and elegant squares to serene riverbanks framed by Alpine vistas.
DAY 12 Friday 4 September 2026 Annecy
On our final morning of painting in Annecy, Tony will begin with a demonstration, showcasing his techniques and creative approach. He will then move among the group, offering personalised guidance and individual assistance to help you refine your work and bring your artistic vision to life. In the afternoon, you will have time to add the finishing touches to your paintings at your own pace. Later, we will gather for a final critique session, where you can share your progress, receive constructive feedback, and celebrate the growth you have achieved during the week. The day will conclude with farewell drinks and dinner, a special moment to toast your creative journey and newfound friendships in the beautiful setting of Annecy.

Tour members will be transferred to Geneva Airport to meet flights departing after 12.30pm.

International Artist Painting Workshops can involve a considerable amount of walking and stair-climbing in the regions visited and it is important that all members have a level of physical fitness that allows them to take part in these activities without the need of assistance from others.
Payment Conditions:
A reservation deposit of $500 per person is required at the time of booking. Final payment is due 92 days prior to the date of departure. A 1.5% administration charge will be added to payments by Visa, Mastercard and Amex.
Alteration to Workshop Vacation Price:
The Painting Workshop Vacation price is subject to change in the event of unforeseen circumstances and changes in the cost of travel and accommodation services. Should any increase in the Workshop Vacation price be unacceptable to the registered member, a full refund of monies paid will be made.
Cancellation and Amendments:
Cancellations received in writing 90 or more days from the date of departure will result in a cancellation fee of $500 per person. Cancellations received 90 or fewer days before departure will result in a loss of all monies paid. There are no refunds for services not utilized while on a Workshop Vacation. Travel insurance is highly recommended to cover Workshop members for the consequences of unforeseen events during the Workshop Vacation and for cancellation fees that could result from illness, accident, death or other contingencies. Once a booking has been confirmed, one amendment to travel arrangements will be made free of charge. Subsequent changes to travel arrangements will incur an amendment fee of $25 per change in addition to supplier charges.
Minimum Workshop Vacation Numbers:
Each Painting Workshop Vacation has been priced on the basis of a minimum number of members travelling. In the event that fewer than the minimum number of members have confirmed their booking 90 days from the date of commencement, Travelrite International reserves the right to cancel the Workshop Vacation, giving a full refund of monies paid, or to offer arrangements to proceed with the Workshop Vacation at a modified price.
General:
In the unlikely event that the Workshop tutor is unable to perform his or her duties due to unforeseen contingencies, Travelrite International reserves the right to substitute another artist as tutor or to continue with the Workshop Vacation as planned or to provide a cash refund to Workshop members equivalent to the value of the Workshop leadership.

If you regularly sell your own paintings, you may fall into the semi-professional or professional category for taxation purposes and the tour cost may be tax-deductible. We recommend that you seek the advice of a qualified tax adviser.
Responsibilities:
Travelrite International Pty Ltd., their agents, officers, affiliates, and/or suppliers of services pursuant to or in connection with these Workshop Vacations shall act only as agents in making arrangements for hotels, transportation, restaurants, or any other service and do not assume any liability whatsoever for any injury, damage, death, loss, accident or delay to person or property due to an act of negligence or of default of any hotel, carrier, restaurant, company or person rendering any services included in the Workshops, or by act of God. Further, no responsibilities are accepted for any damage or delay due to sickness, pilferage, labor disputes, machinery breakdown, quarantine, government restraints, weather, terrorism, or other causes beyond their control. No responsibility is accepted for any additional expenses, omissions, delays, rerouting or acts of any government or authority. Baggage remains at owner's risk throughout the Workshop Vacation. Registration for any Painting Workshop Vacation constitutes a contract which shall be construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Victoria, Australia and any legal action must be taken in the State of Victoria.
