



Brendon Darby is an artist and musician based in Perth, Western Australia. He has had over 50 solo exhibitions across Australia and around the world. Brendon is an accomplished musician, performing professionally for many years and is also a published composer. In what is arguably his most important collection to date, Brendon combined his two disciplines creating “Listening to Paintings - Australia”. 10 years in creation, this multimedia work premiered at New York’s Museum of Natural History in January 2007. Brendon has been a finalist in The Archibald Prize, The Doug Moran National Portrait Prize and The Black Swan for Portraiture. He is primarily known for his landscape paintings. Day 1: Saturday 8 October, 2022
Margaret River, WA
Tour members will be met at Perth airport at
12:00 midday and transferred to the workshop
hotel in Margaret River. Late afternoon there
will be a welcome drinks party followed by an
included dinner.
Day 2: Sunday 9 October, 2022
Margaret River, WA
A full day of painting in Margaret River. Margaret
River has evolved into the ultimate smorgasbord
of fine wine, good food and spectacular scenery.
Margaret River also has a thriving arts scene with
many art and craft galleries. This will also be the
base from which we will explore and paint the
many areas that simply must be painted in
Western Australia.
Day 3: Monday 10 October 2022
Margaret River, WA
Today our excursion from Margaret River takes
us to the famous Busselton Jetty, the longest in
Australia. This wood pier stretches nearly 2km to
the Underwater Observatory, where life in a coral
reef is on view. Brendon will find a great location
for today’s painting session. There will be regular
critique sessions during the workshop.
Day 4: Tuesday 11 October, 2022
Margaret River, WA
This morning we travel to Augusta and Cape
Leeuwin, where the Southern and Indian Oceans
meet. The cape, the most south-westerly point in
Australia, has a rugged coastline and a lighthouse
built in 1895. Brendon will find a great painting
location close to the light house and show
you how to paint it. We will drive through the
majestic Boranup Karri Forest and admire the pale,
slender trees towering up to 60 meters. Today
we also explore the underground wonderland
of Mammoth Cave, it is one of just a few caves in
the south west which contains fossils. Our visit
to Mammoth Cave finishes with a winding walk
through the beautiful marri forest, with whistling
birds and stunning flora displays. These incredible
wonders of nature are right at our doorstep.
Day 5: Wednesday 12 October 2022
Pemberton, WA
Today we enjoy painting at one of the beautiful
vineyards in the Margaret River region. We will also
enjoy an included lunch and a wine tasting. In the
afternoon we will travel to Pemberton, known for
the tall karri trees of Gloucester National Park. On
arrival we will see the enormous Gloucester Tree
towering 72m above the ground. Used as a fire
lookout tree, it has a cabin built 58 metres up the
tree, accessed by 153 spikes that spiral the trunk.
Tonight we enjoy an included dinner.
Day 6: Thursday 13 October, 2022
Pemberton, WA
Today we enjoy a day of painting around our
beautiful accommodation set next to a lake
surrounded by beautiful tall karri trees. Brendon
will commence the painting session with a demonstration and then assist workshop members
individually. Tonight we enjoy an included dinner.
Day 7: Friday 14 October, 2022
Pemberton, WA
Another day of painting in Pemberton among the
tall trees. Brendon will paint a demonstration and
assist workshop members. We will have a critique
session in the afternoon. Tonight we enjoy an
included dinner.
Day 8: Saturday 15 October, 2022
Albany, WA
We depart Pemberton and travel through the
Valley of the Giants, where karri and jarrah trees
tower majestically over the countryside and red
tingle trees can have a base circumference of
16m. We’ll take the tree-top walk through the
canopy of the trees, 40m above the forest floor. We
continue to our hotel in Albany. Albany is the oldest
European settlement in Western Australia and was
a major whaling station, and coal shipping port.
There is also a large amount of Aboriginal evidence
from earlier times in Albany.
Day 9: Sunday 16 October, 2022
Albany, WA
This morning we will have a tour of historic Albany
including the Mt Clarence Desert Corp Memorial
and Padre White Lookout, for amazing views of
Albany. We will visit the National ANZAC Centre,
which honours the ANZACS of the First World War.
It overlooks the actual harbour from which over
41,000 men and women departed Australia for the
First World War. In the afternoon Brendon will paint
a demonstration and assist workshop members.
Day 10: Monday 17 October, 2022
Albany, WA
Today we will travel to Torndirrup National Park for
a day of painting and also to view the impressive
granite formations of The Gap and Natural Bridge.

Day 11: Tuesday 18 October, 2022
Albany, WA
Our last full day of painting. This morning Brendon
will find a wonderful painting location in the
town and assist workshop members. Tonight we
will have farewell drinks followed by an included
farewell dinner.
Day 12: Wednesday 19 October, 2022
Departure
This morning we depart Albany by private coach
and travel to Perth. You will be transferred to Perth
domestic airports for your return flights home.

Tour deposit fully refundable up to 60 days prior to departure
Touring can involve a considerable amount of walking and stair climbing in the places visited and it is important that all tour participants have a level of physical fitness that allows them to take part in this activity without the need of assistance from others.
1. Payment Conditions:
A reservation deposit of $500 per person is required at the
time of booking. Final payment is due 45 days prior to the
date of departure.
2. Alteration to Workshop Vacation Price:
The Painting Workshop Vacation price is subject to change
in the event of unforeseen circumstances and changes in
the cost of travel and accommodation services. Should any
increase in the Workshop Vacation price be unacceptable
to the registered member, a full refund of monies paid will
be made.
3. Cancellation and Amendments:
* Cancellation conditions don’t apply for clients with future cruise/tour credits. Cruise/tour credits are non-refundable. For new bookings, cancellations received in writing 45 or more days from the date of departure will result in a fully refundable deposit. Cancellations received in writing 60 or more days from the
date of departure will result in a refund of $500 per person.
Cancellations received 60 or fewer days before departure
will result in a loss of all monies paid. There are no refunds
for services not utilized while on a Workshop Vacation.
Travel insurance is highly recommended to cover Workshop
members for the consequences of unforeseen events during
the Workshop Vacation and for cancellation fees that could
result from illness, accident, death or other contingencies.
Once a booking has been confirmed, one amendment to
travel arrangements will be made free-of charge. Subsequent
changes to travel arrangements will incur an amendment fee
of $25 per change in addition to supplier charges
4. Minimum Workshop Vacation Numbers:
Each Painting Workshop Vacation has been priced on the
basis of a minimum number of members travelling. In the
event that fewer than the minimum number of members
have confirmed their booking 45 days from the date of
commencement, Travelrite International reserves the right to
cancel the Workshop Vacation, giving a full refund of monies
paid, or to offer arrangements to proceed with the Workshop
Vacation at a modified price.
5. General:
In the unlikely event that the Workshop tutor is unable to
perform his or her duties due to unforeseen contingencies,
Travelrite International reserves the right to substitute
another artist as tutor or to continue with the Workshop
Vacation as planned or to provide a cash refund to Workshop
members equivalent to the value of the Workshop leadership.
International Artist Painting Workshops can involve a
considerable amount of walking and stair-climbing in the
regions visited and it is important that all members have a
level of physical fitness that allows them to take part in these
activities without the need of assistance from others.
6. Tax Considerations:
If you regularly sell your own paintings, you may fall into
the semi-professional or professional category for taxation
purposes and the tour cost may be tax-deductible. We
recommend that you seek the advice of a qualified tax.
8. Responsibilities:
Travelrite International Pty Ltd., their agents, officers, affiliates,
and/or suppliers of services pursuant to or in connection with
these Workshop Vacations shall act only as agents in making
arrangements for hotels, transportation, restaurants, or any
other service and do not assume any liability whatsoever for
any injury, damage, death, loss, accident or delay to person
or property due to an act of negligence or of default of any
hotel, carrier, restaurant, company or person rendering any
services included in the Workshops, or by act of God. Further,
no responsibilities are accepted for any damage or delay due
to sickness, pilferage, labor disputes, machinery breakdown,
quarantine, government restraints, weather, terrorism,
or other causes beyond their control. No responsibility is
accepted for any additional expenses, omissions, delays,
rerouting or acts of any government or authority. Baggage
remains at owner’s risk throughout the Workshop Vacation.
The passage contract in use by the carriers concerned, when
issued, shall constitute the sole contract between the carriers
and the purchasers of these Painting Workshop Vacations
and/or the passengers. The right is reserved to withdraw any
Painting Workshop Vacation and/or to make such changes in
the Painting Workshop Vacation as may be found desirable
for the convenience of the parties and the proper carryingout
of the Painting Workshop Vacation. Registration for any
Painting Workshop Vacation constitutes a contract which
shall be construed in accordance with the laws of the State of
Victoria, Australia and any legal action must be taken in the
State of Victoria.
