Day 1: Sunday Sept 19, 2010 Cinque Terre
Workshop members will be met at Pisa airport at 1.00PM and transferred by private coach to the town of Monterosso, one of the villages that make up Cinque Terre (Five Lands). Cinque Terre is an isolated region with its rugged mountains covered wherever possible by terraced vineyards. A coastal path links all five villages where you will be able to enjoy, and paint the dramatic views of the towns and coast. Cinque Terre will surely offer workshop members an abundance of inspiration. On arrival the group will get together for welcome drinks. A delicious full dinner is included each evening at the hotel in Cinque Terre.
Day 2: Monday Sept 20, 2010 Cinque Terre
This morning we will be met by a local guide, who will travel with the group on a walking tour explaining the history, sights and the local delicacies of the Cinque Terre region, which include pesto and anchovies. In the afternoon David Taylor will begin the painting program with a demonstration and individual teaching. Valuable critique sessions will be held throughout the tour every few days.
Day 3: Tuesday Sept 21, 2010 Cinque Terre
Today David will take workshop members to the village of Vernazza for a day of painting. Vernazza is the most attractive of the villages with its tall colorful houses and a promenade and piazza on the water. There are countless superb subjects that will keep you painting all day.
Day 4: Wednesday Sept 22, 2010 Cinque Terre
Painting, relaxation and sightseeing in Cinque Terre with David Taylor. Today you may like to walk on the famous coastal path, which links the five villages.
Day 5: Thursday Sept 23, 2010 Cinque Terre
This morning the group will visit the medieval village of Riomaggiore for a day of painting with David Taylor. The village is a spectacular jumble of houses slithering down a narrow valley with tiny fishing boats lining the shore. The Via dell’ Amore (Lovers’ Lane) starts in Riomaggiore and finishes in Manarola. In the afternoon you may like to walk the short distance to Manarola.
Day 6: Friday Sept 24, 2010 Cinque Terre
Today is our last day of painting in Cinque Terre. David will paint a demonstration and then provide each workshop member with individual attention throughout the day.
Day 7: Saturday Sept 25, 2010 Lucca
This morning we will be transferred by private coach to Lucca. Lucca is a beautiful little Tuscan town enclosed by its famous 16th century Renaissance-era city walls. Lucca features some of Italy’s finest medieval and Renaissance architecture, superb dining and antique markets. Lucca is one of Tuscany’s best-kept secrets and will provide many subjects to paint.
Day 8: Sunday Sept 26, 2010 Lucca
After breakfast David will paint his first demonstration in Lucca and then assist group members individually.
Day 9: Monday Sept 27, 2010 Lucca
Today workshop members will travel by private coach to one of the world’s greatest artistic capitals, Florence for a sightseeing tour with a local guide. For three centuries the city was the cradle of exceptional artistic and intellectual activity, which later became known as the Renaissance. Florence was the home of Dante, Machiavelli, Michelangelo and is almost overwhelming in its wealth of art, culture and history. We will see the cathedral, with its enormous dome, the Baptistery, Santa Croce church and the famous Ponte Vecchio. The afternoon will be free for sketching, visiting museums, galleries and local sights.
Day 10: Tuesday Sept 28, 2010 Lucca
After breakfast you will enjoy a group painting session in Lucca. David Taylor will demonstrate in the morning and guide workshop members with their work.
Day 11: Wednesday Sept 29, 2010 Lucca
Today the workshop members will travel to the town of Siena for a full day of painting. Siena is one of Italy’s best preserved Medieval towns, and home of the ‘The Palio de Siena’, one of the world’s most famous horse races. Offering stunning terracotta cityscapes and an abundance of twisting stone alleyways, Siena will surely offer workshop members an abundance of inspiration.
Day 12: Thursday Sept 30, 2010 Lucca
Today you will enjoy another painting session in Lucca. David Taylor will demonstrate and guide members with their work throughout the day. There will be a critique session before an included farewell dinner.
Day 13: Friday October 1, 2010 Departure
After breakfast workshop members will be transferred to Pisa airport to meet flights departing after 1.00pm.
