WORKSHOP

Day 1: THURSDAY NOVEMBER 13, 2008 Hunter Valley
Workshop members will depart Sydney, including a pick up at Sydney Airport, and travel through the picturesque New South Wales coast by coach via Hawkesbury River, Central Coast and the Lake Macquarie region to the Hunter Valley, our base for the next four nights.

The Hunter Valley is famous for its breathtaking scenery, award winning wines and gourmet produce. We will be staying in the centre of the Lower Hunter Valley wine region, Pokolbin, which is surrounded by a tapestry of vineyards in the shadow of the Brokenback Range. The Pokolbin area has produced wines since the mid-1800s and will provide many wonderful painting opportunities.

Welcome drinks will be held in the hotel for workshop members to get to know each other and for Charles and Robert to outline their plans for the workshop.

Day 2: FRIDAY NOVEMBER 14, 2008 Hunter Valley
After breakfast, Charles and Robert will find a great painting location in the Hunter Valley and complete a demonstration. Following this, Charles and Robert will assist individual workshop members with their painting. A constructive critique session will be held late afternoon.

DAY 3: SATURDAY NOVEMBER 15, 2008 Hunter Valley
After breakfast we will travel by coach to the nearby town of Morpeth for a full day of painting. Morpeth's days as a river port were effectively over by about 1890, but the town's comparative isolation meant that its historic shopfronts, wharves and even the hitching posts along the main street have survived intact. The town is a living museum of Australia's past, a history lesson that will provide delightful painting opportunities for workshop members.

DAY 4: SUNDAY NOVEMBER 16, 2008 Hunter Valley
Today we will enjoy a leisurely lunch and sketching at Tulloch winery. Charles and Robert will demonstrate how to capture the beauty of this picturesque area and assist workshop members with their painting.

DAY 5: MONDAY NOVEMBER 17, 2008 Bathurst
This morning we will travel by coach to Bathurst, which will be our base for the next three nights. One of Australia's oldest inland settlements, Bathurst is a gateway to former gold-rush towns, boasting colonial buildings and grand old homes built for wealthy graziers. In recent years, this sophisticated city has become synonymous with its annual motor race, the Bathurst 1000.

DAY 6: TUESDAY NOVEMBER 18, 2008 Bathurst
This morning we will travel by coach to Sofala for a day of sketching and painting. Sofala offers the authentic old-world charm of a former gold-rush town. Small and peaceful today, its out-of-the-wayness has attracted artists over the years. In 1947, Russell Drysdale captured the main street and its timber buildings in its hot, dusty emptiness in his famous work, "Sofala". Sofala with the charm of its historic buildings will provide plenty of subjects to paint.

DAY 7: WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 19, 2008 Bathurst
After breakfast, Charles and Robert will lead a day of painting in Bathurst. They will demonstrate and then spend time moving amongst the group members offering individual assistance. Bathurst will provide many exciting painting opportunities for workshop members. A constructive critique session will be held in the afternoon.

DAY 8: THURSDAY NOVEMBER 20, 2008 Manly, Sydney
After breakfast we will depart by coach to Manly, Sydney. A visit to Manly by ferry is a quintessential Sydney experience. Nestled between a tranquil inner-harbour beach on one side and a popular Pacific Ocean surf beach on the other, Manly manages to combine a laid-back attitude with a sophisticated dining scene and stylish boutiques. The palm-tree lined Corso leads you onto the Steyne promenade providing many subjects to paint. In the afternoon, workshop members might like a different challenge – there are a number of scenic walking routes that link the beaches with the national park.

DAY 9: FRIDAY NOVEMBER 21, 2008 Manly, Sydney
Today we will have a full day of painting in Manly with Charles and Robert. They will perform a demonstration and then it will be your turn to paint while Charles and Robert assist tour members with their painting. A critique session will be held in the afternoon.

DAY 10: SATURDAY NOVEMBER 22, 2008 Manly, Sydney
Today Charles and Robert will lead tour members to a special location for our last day of painting. A final critique session will be held before an included dinner to celebrate the success of the workshop

DAY 11: SUNDAY NOVEMBER 23, 2008 Departure
Time to say farewell. After breakfast, we will travel by coach to Sydney airport and the workshop will conclude.
