WORKSHOP
DAY 1 MONDAY SEPTEMBER 15, 2007 BARCELONA, SPAIN
Workshop members will be met at Barcelona airport at midday and will be transferred to the workshop hotel located centrally in the city. The dynamic city of Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia and is the second largest city in Spain. Barcelona has a lively cultural center that builds on its connection with many famous artists including Picasso, Miro, Dali and Tapies. During our stay in Barcelona you will see many examples of Antonio Gaudi's architecture including the famous Sagrada Familia. After a welcome drinks party the workshop manager will recommend good value restaurants for dinner.
DAY 2 TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 16, 2008 BARCELONA, SPAIN
This morning we will have a guided local tour of Barcelona visiting Plaza de Catalunya, the Cathedral and the Gothic Quarter. After lunch Tom will commence the painting program with a demonstration followed by individual tuition.
DAY 3 WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 17, 2008 BARCELONA, SPAIN
Tom will find a wonderful painting location in the town and show you how to interpret it. He will also give personal attention to everyone as the group sketches and paints throughout the day. A constructive critique session will be held late afternoon
DAY 4 THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 18, 2008 BARCELONA, SPAIN
Our final day in Barcelona. Tom will lead the group to a good painting location and then assist workshop members with their individual work.
DAY 5 FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 19, 2008 EMBARKATION
This morning will be free. In the early afternoon we will be transferred to the waterfront to board the Celebrity Century. After settling into your cabin, come out on deck to watch as the ship slips its moorings and departs Barcelona. Dinner will be served from 6:30pm.
DAY 6 SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 20, 2008 MARSEILLES, FRANCE
Today we arrive in Marseille in the South of France. We will travel a short distance to Aix-en-Provence. Aix-en-Provence is the birthplace of Paul Cezanne and is a town devoted to art and culture. Tom will assist workshop members to capture the abundant colors of this historical town.
DAY 7 SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 21 2008 VILLEFRANCHE, FRANCE
This morning we arrive at the French Riviera town of Villefranche a beautiful Italian style fishing port and holiday resort a short distance from Nice. The town owes its name to the Count of Provence, Charles II of Anjou, nephew of St Louis, who founded it at the start of the 14th century and gave the town its commercial freedom. Tom will find a wonderful location and begin a demonstration, followed by moving amongst workshop members offering individual assistance.
DAY 8 MONDAY SEPTEMBER 22 2008 TUSCANY, ITALY
Today we visit the port of Livorno, Tuscany. We travel into the beautiful Tuscan Contryside to the wonderful medieval town of Lucca. It is known for its pink-brick ramparts and narrow streets lined with tall facades of old houses. The old town has remained lively and sheltered behind its ramparts, untouched by modern town planning. On arrival in Lucca tour members will enjoy a day of painting with Tom.
DAY 9 TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 23 2008 ROME, ITALY
Today we arrive at the port of Civitavecchia, the port of the eternal city of Rome. We will travel into Rome and have a guided sightseeing tour of this great city, where we will see the famous Colosseum, St Peters Basilica, the Vatican and much more. There will be time for lunch at leisure and shopping.
DAY 10 WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 24 2008 NAPLES, ITALY
Today we arrive in the lively and vibrant city of Naples (Napoli). Located in the beautiful Bay of Naples, the narrow and winding streets and the wonderful historical and artistic treasures will offer abundant painting and sightseeing opportunities. Tom will assist workshop members with capturing all that Naples has to offer.
DAY 11 THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 25 2008 AT SEA
After breakfast, Tom will lead his first painting demonstration on board the majestic Celebrity 'Century'. Afterwards, Tom will move among the group members helping everyone with their work. You will also have a chance to explore and enjoy the fantastic facilities and many activities available on the 'Century'.
DAY 12 FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 26 2008 VALLETTA, MALTA
This morning we will arrive in the port of Valletta, Malta a fascinating island neighbour to Sicily. Tom will show you how to paint the islands spectacular scenery and architecture. The colours are striking, honey-coloured stone against the deepest of Mediterranean blues.
DAY 13 SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 27 2008 TUNIS, TUNISIA
This morning we arrive into Tunis, a city with a wealth of ancient palaces, mosques and living museums. Tom will find a wonderful location in the Medina and begin a demonstration, followed by moving amongst workshop members offering individual assistance.
DAY 14 SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 28 2008 AT SEA
A day at sea. Workshop members will be able to enjoy one of the many on-board activities or browse in the designer boutiques on the ship. This morning Tom will paint a demonstration and then provide individual help to workshop members.
DAY 15 MONDAY SEPTEMBER 29 2008 DEPARTURE
This morning we disembark the Celebrity 'Century'. A private coach will transfer workshop members to Barcelona airport.
