Day 1: Monday May 17, 2010 Sorrento
Workshop members will be met at Naples airport at 2.00pm. Please ensure you allow ample time to collect your luggage prior to the departure time. We will then be transferred by private coach to Sorrento. Sorrento is a small town wonderfully located over white steep cliffs and offers a fantastic view over the Bay of Naples. Sorrento lies on a Tufa terrace and is enclosed by impressive rocks of the Limestone Mountains. For 2000 years visitors from all over the world have been attracted to Sorrento by breathtaking sunsets and fragrances of orange and lemon gardens. This evening the group will meet John Lovett for welcome drinks

Day 2: Tuesday May 18, 2010 Sorrento
This morning we will have a sightseeing tour of Sorrento. After lunch John will find a wonderful painting location. He will paint his first demonstration and then move amongst the group helping members with their own paintings. Critique sessions will be held regularly throughout the tour.

Day 3: Wednesday May 19, 2010 Sorrento
After breakfast this morning we will travel by boat to the Island of Capri. Capri is a breathtaking area of natural beauty in the Bay of Naples. During the day the light dips the island into different colours and enchants the artist. John will paint a demonstration and then assist workshop members individually. We will return to the hotel late afternoon.

Day 4: Thursday May 20, 2010 Sorrento
A full day of painting in Sorrento with John Lovett. Helpful assistance will be provided to individual workshop members.

Day 5: Friday May 21, 2010 Sorrento
After breakfast we will travel to the Amalfi coast. The Amalfi Coast, is a stretch of coastline on the southern side of the Sorrentine Peninsula of Italy, extending from Positano in the west to Vietri sul Mare in the east. The Amalfi coast is a mixture of history and nature, with a lot to discover and today John will help you capture all the color and excitement of the Amalfi Coast.

Day 6: Saturday May 22, 2010 Taormina
This morning we will be transferred by private coach to Naples airport where we will board our flight to Catania. On arrival in Catania we will be transferred by private coach to Taormina. If you are looking for a long glimpse of Sicily’s beauty and history from many angles Taormina will not disappoint. The city is located on a plateau below Mount Tauro, where there are ruins of two medieval fortresses. Taormina’s ancient Greek splendour, medieval charm and unique views of Mount Etna and the Ionian coast will give you a lasting impression of Sicily. We are sure that you will find our painting exploration of Sicily to be comfortable, rewarding and enjoyable.

Day 7: Sunday May 23, 2010 Taormina
After breakfast this morning John will lead the group to a wonderful painting spot where he will paint a demonstration and then he will help workshop members with their own paintings.

Day 8: Monday May 24, 2010 Taormina
This morning we will depart by coach for a day of painting and sightseeing in the surrounding areas. We will see the splendour of Mt Etna, Europe’s highest active volcano (3,323 metres) rising in the centre of a volcanic area of Sicily. We will then continue to Catania to see the imperial castles and for a painting session. We will return to Taormina late in the afternoon.

Day 9: Tuesday May 25, 2010 Taormina
Today is our last day of painting in Taormina. John will lead the group to a good painting location and paint a demonstration. He will then assist workshop members with their own paintings.

Day 10: Wednesday May 26, 2010 Cefalu
After breakfast workshop members will be transferred by private coach to Cefalu. Cefalu is a quaint little village nestled between a cliff and a beautiful beach all under the ever present gaze of the Norman-Arab-Byzantine cathedral, one of the greatest churches of southern Europe. Nestled between the Madonie Mountains and the sea, Cefalu’s, winding narrow medieval streets, and rocky coast will provide many subjects to paint.

Day 11: Thursday May 27, 2010 Cefalu
This morning we will have a sightseeing tour of Cefalu. In the afternoon John will lead the group to a wonderful painting spot where he will paint a demonstration and then he will help workshop members with their own paintings.

Day 12: Friday May 28, 2010 Cefalu
This morning we will travel by private coach to Palermo for a day of painting. Palermo was founded by the Phoenicians in the 7th century BC, the city has been home to numerous people including the Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, Normans, Germans and Spanish before finally becoming part of a united Italy in 1860. John will lead the group to a good painting location and then assist workshop members with their individual work. We will return to the hotel late afternoon.

Day 13: Saturday May 29, 2010 Cefalu
Today is our last day of painting in Cefalu. John will begin the day with a demonstration and then assist workshop members with their own paintings.

Day 14: Sunday May 30, 2010 Departure
Time to say goodbye to Sicily. After breakfast we will be transferred by private coach to Palermo airport to join flights departing after 2.00pm.
