DAY 1 - MONDAY AUGUST 17 Darwin
Workshop members will be met at Darwin airport at midday and transferred by private coach to our first class hotel located on the esplanade overlooking the Timor Sea for a two night stay. Darwin is a modern city with every amenity. It has a young, transient population and enjoys an easy-going atmosphere. On arrival the group will get together for an included welcome drinks party.

DAY 2 - TUESDAY AUGUST 18 Darwin
After breakfast John Lovett will hold his first demonstration for the workshop and will provide individual help to workshop members. Valuable critique sessions will be held in the hotel every few days.

DAY 3 - WEDNESDAY AUGUST 19 Kakadu
From Darwin we will cross the Marakai Plains to Kakadu National Park. Kakadu National Park is one of the natural marvels of Australia. It encompasses a variety of superb landscapes, swarms with wildlife and has some of Australia’s best Aboriginal rock art. In the afternoon John Lovett will find a great painting location close to the hotel and show you how to tackle it.

DAY 4 - THURSDAY AUGUST 20 Kakadu
Painting, relaxation and sightseeing in Kakadu with John Lovett. Today we travel to Nourlangie Rock to view Aboriginal art followed by a visit to the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre for an insight into the cultural and historical significance of the park for its traditional owners. We will then enjoy a guided cruise on Kakadu’s Yellow Water billabong giving us a unique opportunity to experience this diverse and sublimely beautiful area and it’s associated wildlife.

DAY 5 - FRIDAY AUGUST 21 Kakadu
Today is our last day of painting in Kakadu. John will paint a demonstration and then provide each workshop member with individual attention throughout the day.

DAY 6 - SATURDAY AUGUST 22 Katherine
This morning we will leave Kakadu to travel to Katherine. Katherine is a modern thriving regional centre often called the ‘Crossroads of the North’ because of its location. In the afternoon John will paint a demonstration and then provide each workshop member individual attention.

DAY 7 - SUNDAY AUGUST 23 Katherine
After breakfast we will have a sightseeing tour of the spectacular Katherine Gorge. The group will travel by boat along a part of the gorge. There will be some spectacular views to photograph and you will have time for sketching and painting after the cruise.

DAY 8 - MONDAY AUGUST 24 Kununura
Today we will cross the border into Western Australia and travel to Kununurra, the Kimberley’s eastern gateway. Kununurra is a lively and pleasant modern town that is the centre of the ambitious Ord River irrigation scheme.

DAY 9 - TUESDAY AUGUST 25 Kununura
Today we will have an optional scenic flight to Purnululu (Bungle Bungle) National Park. The Bungle Bungle Range is renowned for the striking sandstone domes, striped with orange and grey bands. The area covers nearly 240,000 hectares. The unusual sandstone and conglomerate rock structures are estimated to be 350 million years old. The Bungle Bungle Ranges were world heritage listed in 2003 and has established itself as an iconic Western Australia ‘must see’. On arrival we will journey into Echidna Chasm, where we will enjoy a delicious picnic lunch. There will be many opportunities for photo’s and sketching including a painting demonstration from John. In the afternoon we will enjoy an easy paced walk along the ancient dry bed of Piccaninny Creek and inspect the domes up close. We will board the return scenic flight to Kununurra arriving at approximately 5:00pm. This will also be a free day for those not taking the optional tour of the Bungle Bungles.

DAY 10 - WEDNESDAY AUGUST 26 Kununura
After breakfast John Lovett will demonstrate at a good painting spot and then help individuals with their work.

DAY 11 - THURSDAY AUGUST 27 El Questro
Today we travel along the Victoria Highway to El Questro Station, located on one million acres of Kimberley wilderness. El Questro is a working cattle station with a herd of approximately 5,000 head of crossbred Brahman and Shorthorn cattle. The group will be staying in comfortable tented safari cabins with private ensuites in the heart of the unique Kimberley wilderness. It will be a great four days. Breakfast and an enjoyable safari camp dinner are provided each day in El Questro. On arrival we will have a tour of El Questro. The tour includes a visit to the Zebedee Thermal Springs and a boat trip on the Chamberlain River to view the Wadjina and Bradshaw rock art sites.

DAY 12 - FRIDAY AUGUST 28 El Questro
The El Questro safari camp has been enjoyed by many notable artists over the years - who have all been enchanted by the unique surroundings and the fun of “roughing it”. After breakfast John will demonstrate at a good painting spot and then help individuals with their work.

DAY 13 - SATURDAY AUGUST 29 El Questro
A full day of painting with John Lovett in spectacular El Questro. There are many excellent painting spots and the group will travel by four-wheel-drive vehicles to great painting locations.

DAY 14 - SUNDAY AUGUST 30 El Questro
Our final day of painting in the Australian Outback. After breakfast John will paint a demonstration and then spend time moving amongst the group members offering individual assistance. Late afternoon the workshop group will come together for a farewell drinks party. It will be an ideal occasion to talk about our great times in northern Australia, the stimulating painting and our new friendships. We will then enjoy a delicious final dinner at Emma Gorge Resort.

DAY 15 - MONDAY AUGUST 31 Departure
After breakfast workshop members will be transferred to Kununurra airport to join flights to their home cities.
