Day 1: Thursday 4 Nov, 2010 Barossa Valley
Workshop members will be met at Adelaide airport at 12.00 midday. Please ensure you allow enough time to collect your luggage prior to the coach departure time. We will travel to Tanunda. The historically colourful town of Tanunda is at the centre of South Australia’s prime wine producing district, the Barossa Valley. Tanunda has grown out of the village of Langmeil which was established in 1843 on the banks of the North Para River by the first wave of German Migrants to settle in the Barossa, most of whom were Silesian and Prussian refugees fleeing religious persecution. The character of the village is preserved in its magnificent old Lutheran churches. This evening the group will get together for welcome drinks.

Day 2: Friday 5 Nov, 2010 Barossa Valley
After breakfast, Terry and Lorraine will lead you to a wonderful painting place in Tanunda. They will paint a demonstration and then move amongst the group helping workshop members individually.

Day 3: Saturday 6 Nov, 2010 Barossa Valley
This morning we will travel to the magnificent town of Hahndorf for a day of painting and sightseeing. Terry and Lorraine will paint a demonstration and there will be time for individual painting. Hahndorf has a rich and exciting artistic heritage. Most notably Hahndorf was the home of Sir Hans Heysen from 1912 to 1968. His famous studio and Homestead ‘The Cedars’ is lovingly preserved and is still owned by the Heysen family. Sir Hans was also a committed environmentalist and in the afternoon you will be able to walk among over 132 acres of majestic old growth gums - and see and experience his vision just as Sir Hans painted it.

Day 4: Sunday 7 Nov, 2010 Barossa Valley
Today is our last day in the Barossa Valley. We will enjoy a day of painting at a Barossa Valley Winery. There will be many wonderful painting subjects for workshop members to capture. There will also be the opportunity to savour the exceptional wine and an included lunch at the winery.

Day 5: Monday 8 Nov, 2010 Murray River Cruise
This morning we will be transferred by private coach to Manum, birthplace of the Murray River trade and home to a wealth of historic buildings. Lorraine and Terry will conduct a painting session followed by helpful assistance. In the afternoon we will board the P.S. Murray Princess, Australia’s largest inland paddlewheeler. She represents a new age in inland cruising and an elegant recreation of a bygone era. A fundamental part of Australia’s heritage was founded in the proud paddlesteamer tradition. The Murray was the lifeline to pioneers who lived on the driest continent on earth. Over 200 paddlesteamers plied the river day and night, negotiating hidden reefs, massive sandbars and treacherous passages. The PS Murray Princess will head upriver while you enjoy pre-dinner drinks and a welcome dinner. As we cruise under floodlight to our overnight mooring at River View Lodge you may see nocturnal wildlife on the riverbank. Watch for grey kangaroos, hair-nosed wombats, Murray longnecked tortoises, spoon-beaked egrets and many other species.

Day 6: Tuesday 9 Nov, 2010 Murray River Cruise
The early morning is a great time for the keen photographers to be out to capture the special light and the morning movement of wildlife. Cruise past towering cliffs and through gorges as we continue up-river. Lorraine and Terry will give an onboard demonstration followed by individual tuition. This afternoon we will visit Burk Salter’s vineyard on the banks of the river and enjoy wine tasting at the cellar door. Rejoin the Murray Princess at Swan Reach and cruise upriver to our overnight anchorage.

Day 7: Wednesday 10 Nov, 2010 Murray River Cruise
This morning we will cruise downriver to “Swan Reach” where we will have a demonstration and individual painting. The town was first settled in the 1850s and was originally the largest of five sheep and cattle stations in the area. After lunch we cruise downriver and take in the tranquillity as the landscape slides by. We arrive at Sunnydale for the Woolshed Sound & Light Show, which recreates Australian woolshed history. Later we visit the Native Wildlife Shelter where some of South Australia’s most interesting native animals are cared for. Tonight we enjoy the great Aussie Barbecue – cooked and served in a bush setting on the banks of the mighty Murray River.

Day 8: Thursday 11 Nov, 2010 Murray River Cruise
Our final day of painting and cruising the Murray. We will have a demonstration before arriving at Ngaut Ngaut Conservation Park, among the most significant archeological sites in Australia. We pass large billabongs, open expanses of water, surrounded by cliffs and reeds. In the afternoon we arrive in the vicinity of Younghusband for tonight’s Captain’s Farewell Dinner.

Day 9: Friday 12 Nov, 2010 Murray River Cruise
After breakfast, PS Murray Princess arrives at Mannum where we reluctantly say farewell. Our private coach will then transfer us to Robe. The historic seaside resort of Robe lies at the southern end of Guichen Bay. The stunning beaches and rugged cliffs, tranquil lakes and mountainous sand dunes will create great subjects to paint.

Day 10: Saturday 13 Nov, 2010 Robe
This morning Terry and Lorraine will lead you to a wonderful subject and paint a demonstration. They will then move amongst group members and assist the group individually.

Day 11: Sunday 14 Nov, 2010 Robe
Today we will travel by private coach to the beautiful seaside town of Beachport. Beachport boasts one of the longest jetties in South Australia. A relaxed atmosphere prevails at this historic whaling port located on the northwestern tip of Rivoli Bay. Terry and Lorraine will paint a demonstration and move amongst group members assisting them individually. We will return to our hotel late afternoon.

Day 12: Monday 15 Nov, 2010 Robe
Our last day of painting in Robe. Terry and Lorraine will lead you to a great painting location to paint a demonstration and then move amongst group members giving individual assistance. A final critique session will be held before an included celebratory dinner to celebrate the success of the workshop.

Day 13: Tuesday 16 Nov, 2010 Departure
After breakfast we will travel by private coach to Adelaide airport to meet your flights that are departing after 4.00pm.
