DAY 1 - SUNDAY MAY 17
LAKE COMO
Workshop members will be transferred
from Milan airport to your comfortable
four star hotel in Como, over looking the
lake. Como is a city of history, art,
culture and tradition and welcomes
those in search of unusual and
enchanting landscapes. Como was
prosperous under the Romans and
reached its zenith in the 11th century.
Now it is a modern town with a beautiful
setting on the shores of Lake Como.
There will be time to freshen up before
the group meets for welcome drinks and
an included welcome dinner at
the hotel.
DAY 2 - MONDAY MAY 18
LAKE COMO
After breakfast Alvaro Castagnet will
begin the painting program with his first
demonstration in a good location near
the hotel. Then it will be your turn to
paint as Alvaro moves among the group,
helping each person with their work.
Relaxed critique sessions will be held at
the workshop hotel every few days.
DAY 3 - TUESDAY MAY 19
LAKE COMO
Today we travel to the lovely town of
Bellagio for a day of painting. Occupying
a magnificent site on the promontory
dividing Lake Lecco from Lake Como, it
is known for its pretty streets, the
friendliness of its people and its villas
and gardens. In the afternoon we take
the ferry across the lake to the village of
Tremezzo to visit Villa Carlotta, known
for its beautiful setting and spectacular
gardens. It was built in 1745 and later
given as a wedding present to Carlotta,
Duchess of Saxe-Meiningen.
DAY 4 - WEDNESDAY MAY 20

A full day of painting, sightseeing
and relaxation in Como with
Alvaro Castagnet.
DAY 5 - THURSDAY MAY 21
LAKE COMO
Today we will depart in our private
coach to Menaggio, which is situated on
the western shore of Lake Como, for a
day of painting. The splendid lakeside
promenade with its lovely flowerbeds
and unique view of the central lake will
offer many subjects to paint. Alvaro will
paint a demonstration and then spend
time moving amongst the group
members offering individual assistance.
There will be time to catch the ferry to
Varenna, a spectacular town built upon
a rock at the foot of a mountain which
rises almost vertically above it.
DAY 6 - FRIDAY MAY 22
LAKE COMO
Our last full day of painting in beautiful
Lake Como. Alvaro will lead the group
for a final day of painting on the lake.
He will demonstrate and then move
from person to person offering
helpful advice.
Day 7 - SATURDAY MAY 23
VENICE
Today workshop members will travel by
private coach to the enchanting city of
Venice. The workshop’s comfortable
three-star hotel is superbly located
close to the Grand Canal and a wealth
of great painting sites. After lunch,
Alvaro Castagnet will lead the group
with his first painting demonstration in
the back streets of Venice, close to the
hotel. Dinner will be at leisure.
Day 8 - SUNDAY MAY 24
VENICE
This morning a local guide will take you
on a tour of the sights of Venice. We will visit St Mark’s Cathedral and its square,
the Grand Canal, the Doges Palace and
the busy waterfront. Following the tour,
Alvaro Castagnet will begin painting
with a demonstration, and then move
amongst the group helping with
individual paintings.
Day 9 - MONDAY MAY 25
VENICE
Alvaro will lead the group to a
good painting location and then
assist workshop members with their
individual work.
Day 10 - TUESDAY MAY 26
VENICE
After breakfast we will take you by boat
to the colorful island of Burano for a day
of painting and sightseeing. Featuring
an extensive network of canals and
ancient buildings painted in vivid reds
and greens, Burano will surely offer
inspiration for today’s workshop.
The group will spend the day exploring
the island and will return to the hotel
in the afternoon.
Day 11 - WEDNESDay MAY 27
VENICE
Alvaro will begin your final day in
Venice with a demonstration and then
help workshop members with their work
throughout the day. A final critique
session will be held before an included
drink’s party to celebrate the success
of the workshop.
DAY 12 - THURSDAY MAY 28
DEPARTURE
Time to say farewell.
After breakfast, you will be transferred
to Venice airport for afternoon return
flights. Workshop concludes.
