WORKSHOP
DAY 1: MONDAY SEPTEMBER 1, 2008 LAKE MAGGIORE
Workshop members will be transferred from Milan airport to your comfortable four star hotel in Stresa, over looking Lake Maggiore. Lake Maggiore is the most famous of the Italian Lakes, in part for its legendary beauty, at times both majestic and wild, and also for the Borromean Islands. It is fed by the Ticino River, which rises in Switzerland, and its waters change from a jade green in the north to a deep blue in the south. The mountains of the Alps and Pre Alps shelter the lake. There will be time to freshen up before the group meets for welcome drinks and an included welcome dinner at the hotel.
DAY 2: TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 2, 2008 LAKE MAGGIORE
After breakfast the painting program will commence with a demonstration by Greg Allen followed by helpful individual teaching.
DAY 3: WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 3, 2008 LAKE MAGGIORE
Today we will travel to Lake Como for a day of painting with Greg Allen. Como is a city of history, art, culture and tradition and welcomes those in search of unusual and enchanting landscapes. Como was prosperous under the Romans and reached its zenith in the 11th century. Now it is a modern town with a beautiful setting on the shores of Lake Como. Greg will choose a great location and show you how to paint this historic town.
DAY 4: THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 4, 2008 LAKE MAGGIORE
After breakfast we take a boat to Isola Bella, the most spectacular of the Borromean Islands. On the island we will see the Palace, which is built in the Lombard Baroque style and its staterooms – Napoleon's room, the Hall of Mirrors, music room and more. The gardens are undoubtedly one of the most dramatic examples of 17th-century gardens in Italy, filled with beautiful roses and other perfumed plants set out on 10 terraces ornamented with statues and fountains and will provide wonderful subjects to paint.
DAY 5: FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 5, 2008 LAKE MAGGIORE
Our last day will be a full day of painting at Lake Maggiore. Greg will take the group to a good location for a demonstration followed by individual attention for workshop members.

Today we will say farewell to Stresa and travel by private coach to Geneva situated on the southern tip of Lake Geneva. The group will travel though spectacular countryside and witness the beauty of the Alps including the Matterhorn. We will arrive in Geneva around midday. Geneva's lakefront is one of the city's greatest assets. The familiar Jet d'eau spouts a column of lake water as high as 450 feet in the air, and on a clear day you can see the impressive Mont-Blanc. Geneva is also famous for being the home of the European headquarters of the United Nations.
